Bangladesh and Australia have signed this visa arrangement to allow young citizens of their respective countries to work and enjoy holiday. Under this arrangements young Bangladeshi nationals aged 18 to 30 will have an opportunity to travel and work in Australia for up to 12 months. This visa allows you to supplement the cost of your holiday through periods of temporary or casual employment.

Who are eligible to apply?

You are eligible for this visa if you: If you are granted a Work and Holiday visa you can:

	are aged 18 to 30 years (inclusive) on the date you submit your papers to the Australian Authority;
	hold a valid Bangladeshi passport;
	meet educational requirements;
	have functional English proficiency;
	have a letter of confirmation of selection for work & Holiday Visa from MoHA;
	are not married or accompanied by any dependent;
	have not previously entered in Australia on a Work and Holiday visa;
	meet good conduct, health and evidence of funds requirements.

How this visa works?

The purpose of this visa is for you to travel and enjoy holidays in Australia. However you can work on temporary basis to have job experiences in Australia. You will not be allowed to work or study for the full twelve months of the visit.

How can you work?
Work and Holiday visa holders are allowed to get any type of works on a temporary basis up to 3 months with each employer. Working beyond 3 months with the same employer, without the required permission, may result in your visa being cancelled and you may be required to leave Australia.

How can you study and get training?
While in Australia as the holder of a Work and Holiday visa you may study or get training for up to 3 months. If you want to study for longer than 3 months, you should apply for other types of visa from outside Australia.

For how long is the Visa valid?
If a Work and Holiday visa is granted, you have 12 months from the grant date to enter in to Australia. If you leave Australia during your 12 month stay, you cannot recover the period of time spend outside Australia.

Can your family accompany?
You cannot include family members in your application for this type of visa. If your partner wishes to accompany you to Australia, he/she may do so, but he/she will need to apply for their own visa. It is not possible for you to travel to Australia on a Work and Holiday visa with children. If you want to travel to Australia with children, you should apply for a different kind of visa.

Is there any annual visa limit?
The annual limit on the number of Work and Holiday visas granted to applicants from Bangladesh is 100. The annual limit is based on the Australian financial year (1 July to 30 June).

Can you extend your stay in Australia?
The Work and Holiday visa allows you to stay in Australia for 12 months. You can only extend your stay in Australia if your Work and Holiday visa is not granted with a 'No Further Stay' condition. Otherwise you will be advised accordingly in your visa grant letter.

Please note that, once you have a letter of confirmation from the Ministry of Home Affairs, you are eligible to apply for the Work and Holiday visa from the Australian High Commission in Dhaka. Work & holiday visa program 2013-2014 online application procedure will start from 10:00 am, 26th December, 2013 to 4:00 pm, 5th January, 2014.

Requirements

What are the educational requirements? You either have to hold tertiary qualifications, or have successfully completed at least 2 years of undergraduate university study. Tertiary qualifications include the following degrees recognized by the competent Bangladeshi authority:
	Doctoral Degree
	Masters Degree
	Graduate Certificate
	Bachelor Degree
In Case you have not achieved any of the above qualifications but have successfully completed two years of undergraduate university study, you will have to submit a document from the competent authority on the university certifying that you have obtained such qualification. What are the functional English requirements? You must have to provide documentary evidence of your level of functional English proficiency to get work and holiday visa. You have to achieve an IELTS average band score of at least 5.5 in General Training Module. How you can get government support? You must include a letter of confirmation of selection & a letter of good conduct for work & Holiday Visa to be issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. These letters do not guarantee a Work and Holiday visa. What is the evidence of funds? You must have access to sufficient funds to support yourself for the initial stage of your holidays. Generally, AUS$5000 is regarded as sufficient, but the amount may vary depending on your length of stay and the extent of your travel. It is needed to attach last 3 month's bank statement while applying. You should also have a return ticket to depart Australia. What are the health requirements? You have to provide evidences of having good health and a sound background. You will be required to undergo health checks as part of the visa process and will be advised by the Australian High Commission of how and when to undertake these checks. Is health insurance needed? Medical treatment in Australia is expensive. As a tourist, you may not be covered by Australia's National Health Scheme (ANHS). It is highly recommended to take a health insurance before traveling to Australia. Furthermore, health care for visitors to Australia is explained on the Medicare Australia website (www.privatehealth.gov.au). What are the reservations?
	You must activate your visa by entering Australia within 12 months of your visa being granted. Failure to activate your visa within this period will result in the visa ceasing. If your visa ceases and you still wish to travel to Australia under the Work and Holiday program, you will need to reapply.
	You must comply with all your visa conditions while in Australia on a Work and Holiday Visa.
