Some stock brokers of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) have expressed their concern over the low turnover value witnessed by the premier bourse after launching the next generation automated trading system, sources said.
The DSE launched new trading software--DSE-FlexTP--on Thursday last and on the day the daily turnover value plunged 68 per cent from the value of previous trading day to Tk 1.36. Thursday's turnover figure was 14-month low turnover. On Sunday, the turnover value was Tk 2.00 billion.
DSE's shareholders directors Sunday called on the policy makers of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) to discuss as to how the turnover value can be increased.
"Members are concerned over the low turnover value observed at the premier bourse. That's why we have discussed the issue with the policy makers of the securities regulator," said a DSE shareholder director on the condition of anonymity.
Asked, DSE managing director Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala said the management of the premier bourse is working to compile the complexities faced at different trading platforms.
"But no one has yet filed any complaint formally. However, we will discuss the overall issue at Monday's (today) board meeting," Bala said.
He said trade ticker on the DSE website will be ensured following some investors' demand.
A senior official of the premier bourse said anyone can seek solution from the DSE management by mention complexities.
A DSE member who earlier served the premier bourse as vice president said there is nothing to be worried as it takes some time to adjust with any kind of new device or instrument.
Some traders at different brokerage firms have said the software which has been installed is faster and more workable than the previous one.
"It will take some time to adopt the operation of the new software," said a trader of a top brokerage firm.
