European stock mkts extend slide

LONDON, Jan 6 (AFP): European stock markets dropped Tuesday, extending the previous day's slump, on the prospect of fresh stimulus to prop up the weak euro zone that risks losing Greece as a member.

Energy companies were meanwhile weighed down by sliding oil prices, pushing the London market down sharper than its counterparts owing to the presence of heavyweights Shell and BP.

The euro traded around nine-year low points as investors wait to see what form of action the European Central Bank (ECB) will take to stimulate the euro zone economy that is being undermined by sliding inflation.
