Germany stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.78% to hit a new 3-months high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.80%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.81%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 6.22% or 7.700 points to trade at 131.550 at the close. Meanwhile, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 3.16% or 0.430 points to end at 14.030 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) was up 2.77% or 2.280 points to 84.730 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which fell 1.81% or 3.050 points to trade at 165.250 at the close. Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (DE:HNKG_p) declined 0.92% or 1.000 points to end at 107.500 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was down 0.90% or 0.710 points to 78.200.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which rose 2.98% to 83.500, GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was up 2.95% to settle at 39.280 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which gained 2.65% to close at 93.990.
The worst performers were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) which was down 3.17% to 29.34 in late trade, Deutsche Euroshop AG O.N. (DE:DEQGn) which lost 2.25% to settle at 40.155 and Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was down 2.04% to 32.340 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 7.76% to 11.800, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 3.98% to settle at 4.210 and Jenoptik AG O.N. (DE:JENG) which gained 3.26% to close at 14.900.
The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which was down 6.03% to 2.943 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which lost 2.28% to settle at 7.929 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 1.24% to 5.321 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 457 to 239 and 35 ended unchanged.
Shares in Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) rose to all time highs; rising 3.16% or 0.430 to 14.030. Shares in Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) rose to all time highs; up 2.98% or 2.420 to 83.500. Shares in Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) rose to all time highs; gaining 7.76% or 0.850 to 11.800. Shares in Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.98% or 0.161 to 4.210.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.82% to 20.73.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.65% or 6.90 to $1063.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.53% or 0.64 to hit $42.35 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.81% or 0.36 to trade at $45.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.0560, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.7020.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 100.31.
