Uber seeks $2.1 billion, same as all 2015 venture capital tech IPOs

Mobile taxi-hailing app Uber is reportedly seeking to raise $2.1 billion at a staggering $62.5 billion valuation. Its target capital raise is the same amount that has been raised by all 18 VC-backed tech IPOs so far in 2015. Uber's proposed private valuation is quadruple the combined market caps at IPO of the 2015 tech cohort ($15.7 billion). Even before the round, the company has in total raised over $5 billion in equity, or 2.5x the combined proceeds raised by the 2015 VC tech IPO class.
