United Arab Emirates stocks higher at close of trade; DFM General up 0.49%

United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Transport, Consumer Staples and Finance & Investment sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 0.49%, while the ADX General index gained 1.03%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which rose 6.25% or 5.00 points to trade at 85.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) added 3.82% or 0.023 points to end at 0.625 and Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) was up 3.48% or 0.04 points to 1.19 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which fell 3.43% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.690 at the close. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) declined 2.58% or 0.017 points to end at 0.643 and Emaar Malls Group (DU:EMAA) was down 1.45% or 0.04 points to 2.72.

The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Islamic Bk (AD:ADIB) which rose 3.67% to 3.95, Rak Cmt & Cons (AD:RAKC) which was up 3.33% to settle at 1.24 and Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which gained 3.33% to close at 6.20.

The worst performers were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which was down 10.00% to 2.88 in late trade, Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which lost 5.92% to settle at 2.70 and Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which was down 2.91% to 2.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 19 to 7; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 12 rose and 11 declined, while 3 ended unchanged.

Shares in Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.82% or 0.023 to 0.625. Shares in Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) fell to all time lows; down 10.00% or 0.32 to 2.88.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.31% or 0.12 to $36.92 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.34% or 0.12 to hit $36.74 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.03% or 0.30 to trade at $1068.60 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.01% to 4.0292.


The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 98.08.
