United Arab Emirates stocks lower at close of trade; DFM General down 3.01%

United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Transport, Real Estate & Construction and Banking sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 3.01% to hit a new 52-week low, while the ADX General index fell 2.36%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK), which rose 3.09% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.940 at the close. Meanwhile, Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) added 0.93% or 0.005 points to end at 0.545 and Dubai National Insurance (DU:DNIN) was up 0.38% or 0.010 points to 2.610 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which fell 6.80% or 0.027 points to trade at 0.370 at the close. ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) declined 5.49% or 0.180 points to end at 3.100 and Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) was down 4.59% or 5.00 points to 104.00.

The top performers on the ADX General were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which rose 9.38% to 0.350, Emirates Ins C (AD:EIC) which was unchanged 0.00% to settle at 6.72 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 6.95.

The worst performers were Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was down 9.82% to 1.01 in late trade, Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which lost 8.89% to settle at 0.410 and Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which was down 7.97% to 5.66 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 25 to 3; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 19 fell and 1 advanced, while 3 ended unchanged.

Shares in SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) fell to all time lows; down 6.80% or 0.027 to 0.370. Shares in Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.59% or 5.00 to 104.00. Shares in Emirates Ins C (AD:EIC) unchanged to 52-week lows; unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to 6.72. Shares in Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) fell to all time lows; down 8.89% or 0.040 to 0.410.

Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.70% or 0.27 to $37.91 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.40% or 0.57 to hit $41.30 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.40% or 4.30 to trade at $1070.90 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.10% to 3.9835.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 98.70.
