At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.91%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Sky city Entertainment Group Ltd (AX:SKC), which rose 7.69% or 0.300 points to trade at 4.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Regis Resources Ltd (AX:RRL) added 7.11% or 0.170 points to end at 2.560 and Evolution Mining Ltd (AX:EVN) was up 6.05% or 0.085 points to 1.490 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were AWE Ltd (AX:AWE), which fell 6.58% or 0.025 points to trade at 0.355 at the close.
Whitehaven Coal Ltd (AX:WHC) declined 6.19% or 0.030 points to end at 0.455 and Select Harvests Ltd (AX:SHV) was down 5.75% or 0.370 points to 6.060.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 547 to 436 and 143 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 1.37% to 23.727.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.22% or 2.40 to $1088.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.67% or 0.20 to hit $30.59 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.62% or 0.47 to trade at $29.20 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.76% to 0.6918, while AUD/JPY rose 1.23% to 81.55.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 99.28.
