Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.55%
Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Warehousing, Electrical/Machinery and Finance & Investment sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.55%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T:9107), which rose 4.69% or 10.0 points to trade at 223.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (T:5232) added 4.57% or 21.0 points to end at 481.0 and SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) was up 4.25% or 34.0 points to 834.0 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Meiji Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:2269), which fell 3.34% or 310.0 points to trade at 8960.0 at the close. Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. (T:2002) declined 3.26% or 60.0 points to end at 1779.0 and Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. (T:4063) was down 2.32% or 142.0 points to 5984.0.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 977 to 912.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 11.02% to 32.95.

Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.84% or 0.26 to $30.64 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.67% or 0.48 to hit $29.22 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.17% or 1.90 to trade at $1088.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.48% to 117.89, while EUR/JPY rose 0.32% to 128.21.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 99.26.
