Germany stocks higher at close of trade



Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transportation & Logistics, Construction and Software sectors led shares higher.


At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.79%, while the MDAX index added 2.21%, and the TecDAX index added 3.45%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST, which rose 4.71% or 3.470 points to trade at 77.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Merck KGAA O.N.  added 4.39% or 3.290 points to end at 78.290 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. was up 4.28% or 0.895 points to 21.810 in late trade.


The worst performers of the session were Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo, which fell 0.12% or 0.110 points to trade at 95.200 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N.  added 0.21% or 0.030 points to end at 14.520 and Continental AG O.N.  was up 0.22% or 0.400 points to 178.900.


The top performers on the MDAX were Hochtief AG which rose 11.73% to 96.940, Aareal Bank AG  which was up 11.00% to settle at 27.190 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG  which gained 3.87% to close at 46.810.


The worst performers were Duerr AG O.N. which was down 9.49% to 51.970 in late trade, Fielmann AG O.N.  which lost 2.77% to settle at 64.480 and Aurubis AG  which was down 2.63% to 39.585 at the close.


The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE which rose 15.35% to 9.711, Wirecard AG  which was up 9.27% to settle at 36.495 and Drillisch AG O.N.  which gained 6.51% to close at 37.685.


The worst performers were QSC AG NA O.N. which was down 0.79% to 1.390 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics which lost 0.77% to settle at 6.046 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N.  which was down 0.47% to 59.720 at the close.


Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 588 to 161 and 20 ended unchanged.


Shares in Hochtief AG rose to all time highs; rising 11.73% or 10.180 to 96.940. Shares in Duerr AG O.N.  fell to 52-week lows; losing 9.49% or 5.450 to 51.970.


The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.40% to 27.15.


Gold for April delivery was down 0.03% or 0.40 to $1238.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.49% or 0.48 to hit $31.67 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.10% or 0.38 to trade at $34.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.1023, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.7906.


The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 97.47.
