India stocks higher at close of trade |
India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Metals, Consumer Durables and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.00% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Vedanta Ltd, which rose 9.08% or 8.85 points to trade at 106.35 at the close. Meanwhile, TATA STEEL LIMITED added 6.53% or 21.90 points to end at 357.45 and Hindalco Industries Ltd.was up 4.89% or 4.75 points to 101.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Idea Cellular Ltd, which fell 3.15% or 3.80 points to trade at 116.90 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.declined 2.75% or 69.40 points to end at 2450.35 and Bharti Infratel Limited was down 2.63% or 10.450 points to 386.350.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd which rose 9.15% to 106.15, TATA STEEL LIMITED which was up 6.52% to settle at 356.85 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. which gained 4.79% to close at 101.75.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. which was down 2.79% to 2451.90 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd which lost 2.21% to settle at 1038.30 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. which was down 1.31% to 3669.60 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 816 to 617 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 492 rose and 340 declined, while 31 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.75% to 17.0750.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.33% or 4.10 to $1250.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.98% or 0.84 to hit $41.63 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.73% or 0.76 to trade at $43.27 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.12% to 66.210, while EUR/INR rose 0.17% to 75.2570.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.05.
